Successful Exhibiting Trade Show Etiquette The Nimlok Advantage Logistics and Shipping Brainstorm

Seven Great Packing Tips
Hate to pack? You need to look your best at trade shows because they’re considered a professional environment for connecting with customers and meeting prospects. You want to be a favorable reflection of your company, right? Here are some tips to ease the pain. So pull out your suitcase and put these ideas into practice.

Zip it
Use zipper-type plastic bags to pack your small items such as cosmetics, first aid, underwear, pantyhose and socks. It helps to keep everything together for inventory. It also eliminates the need to unpack individual items only to repack them again at the end of your trip. Just zip-lock the bags, throw them into the luggage, and you’re packed!

Slippery solution
If you’re only packing a few things for a short stay, put a dry cleaning back or other type of dress bag over each item. The slipperiness of the extra material between items keeps the items from wrinkling.

Clip it
Pack for an entire week in one garment bag by using only two or three trouser-clip suit hangers. Clip all skirts, slacks, jeans and sweats onto the clips. When the clips get full, drape the rest over the wires and stagger the waist lines for less bulk. Next, place your t-shirts and blouses onto the hangers and pull all of the sleeves through each other. Finally, place suit jackets and dresses over the entire bundle and pull the sleeves through again. If you need an extra coat, add that too. You’ll always have room left over for socks, sweaters, running shoes, etc.

Small solution
A time-saving tip for frequent travelers is to purchase sample sizes of cosmetics, toiletries, medicines and so forth, and keep them in your travel bag. Miniature sizes of toothpaste, aspirin, shampoo, and Band-Aids also save space. At the end of each trip, restock your travel bag so you’re already prepared to travel on short notice. Bonus tip: It’s always fun to sample a new product or two—like a body-soaking product to use after a long day on the show floor.

Don’t blow it
Call ahead to the hotel to see if their rooms offer blow dryers (an amenity more hotels are offering these days). If they do, leave your blow dryer at home and pack an extra pair of (comfortable) shoes instead.

Take inventory
Here’s one way to avoid that night-before-you-leave dash to pick up something essential that you forgot to replace after your last trip. Prepare an inventory form for your personal items (such as cosmetics, first aid, shampoo, etc.). Next time you travel, take an extra two minutes as you are packing to go home to check your supplies against your inventory list. You’ll know what you need to replenish between trips and can avoid the last-minute scramble.

Pack in the $1s
Don’t leave home without packing a slew of $1 bills. Think of how often you need to come up with tips when you travel. There are tips for the cab drivers who take you to the airport and your hotel, bonuses for skycaps who haul your luggage and check it at curbside, and bucks for the bellhops who tote your bags to your hotel room. Be sure to keep the $1s where they are accessible.
